In tough environmental conditions, like rain forests, jungles, humid summers, rainy seasons, and the like, a tough hammock is required, especially for those situations when it will be left outside in all kinds of weather. Nylon is the fiber that jumps up to fill the bill. It has not been easy, historically, however, to find a Truly comfortable hammock made in that material. We have them here. Our Yucatecan craftspeople, using some of the softest nylon yarns available, and a technique known as Suspension Tuning, have created a Mayan hammock style that rivals cotton for comfort, and bestows upon the recipient a trouble free bastion of comfort. These hammocks are the first and only nylon hammocks that I have found that are comfortable enough to be used as beds. Check them out below! Special Note: While Nylon hammocks perform better than cotton in high humid environments, cotton is better at resisting destruction in high UV environments. This is because today's nylon hammocks are actually polypropylene, which becomes degraded by UV radiation. As the hammocks are made by hand, all sizes given are approximate.
